Overview

Forge ("the App") is a voice journaling application. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Voice Recordings

• Audio recordings are processed for transcription
• Recordings are sent to our transcription service, processed, and immediately deleted from our servers
• We do not store your audio files

Journal Entries

• Transcribed text is stored locally on your device
• Text is sent to our AI service (The Smith) to generate responses and prompts
• We do not sell or share your journal content with third parties for advertising or marketing

Usage Data

• We may collect anonymous usage statistics (app opens, feature usage)
• This data contains no personal information
• Used only to improve the app

Account Information

• If you subscribe, payment is processed by Apple
• We do not see or store your payment details
• We may receive a transaction ID from Apple for subscription management

Data Storage

Journal entries are stored locally on your device using secure storage. While entries are processed by third-party services (transcription and AI) to provide app functionality, the stored data resides on your device. If you delete the app, your local entries are permanently deleted.

Third-Party Services

Transcription Service (OpenAI Whisper)

Voice recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for speech-to-text conversion. Audio is processed in real-time and not retained by OpenAI for training purposes per their API data usage policy.

AI Processing (The Smith)

Your transcribed journal text is sent to our AI service to generate personalized prompts and responses. This data is processed to provide the journaling experience and is not used to train AI models.

Apple (for subscriptions)

If you subscribe, Apple processes your payment. See Apple's privacy policy for details.

Analytics (if implemented)

We may use anonymous analytics to understand app usage. No personal data is collected.

Your Rights

• Access: Your data is on your device. You can view it anytime.
• Export: Use the export feature to save entries.
• Delete: Delete individual entries or uninstall the app to remove all data.
• Opt-out: You can disable analytics in settings (if applicable).

Children's Privacy

Forge is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Security

• Entries are stored in secure local storage
• Optional passcode/biometric lock protects app access
• Voice data is transmitted securely (HTTPS)

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
